The studio

An interior design studio in Girona, the Empordà and the Costa Brava

Our studio, Susanna Cots Interior Design, is in Peratallada, in the heart of the Baix Empordà.

From here we work on homes, hotels, retail spaces and spaces linked to health, in Girona, the Empordà, the Costa Brava, the rest of Spain and internationally. We work as interior designers in Girona and across the province, with particularly deep roots in the Empordà and the Costa Brava.

Working from the Empordà is not only a matter of location. It is part of how we understand spaces. We know its architecture, its light, its materials and the particular relationship that exists here between interior, exterior and landscape.

A way of living deeply tied to its surroundings, yet open to the world.

Every proposal begins by listening. Before drawing, we need to understand who is going to live in the space, how they live, what they need and what they may come to need over time.

Interior design services

Turnkey interior design project

We develop the project from conception to completion: layout, lighting, materials, furniture, textiles, construction details, drawings and visualisation. Every decision is part of an overall vision of the space.

Renovations and site management

The work continues during construction. We coordinate the different teams and follow the works so that what was thought through and drawn keeps its coherence once it is built.

When the design calls for it, our technical team also handles the technical documentation, the permits and the paperwork with the local council.

Residential interior design

As interior designers, main homes and second homes are an essential part of our work. We design thinking not only about the space, but about the life that will happen inside it: daily rhythms, light, rest, gatherings, privacy and the passing of time.

Hotels, retail and healthcare

We also work on hotels, retail spaces and spaces linked to health. In these cases, interior design has to understand both the identity of the place and the people who will use it, and the experience we want them to have.

We turn that understanding into layout, material, light, furniture and detail. We do not seek to impose a language, but to find the one that belongs to each house.

We stay with the works to the end, to preserve the coherence of what was drawn down to the last detail.

About Susanna Cots

Susanna Cots has spent more than 25 years developing her own way of understanding interior design, based on listening, observing and searching for what is essential.

She runs the studio from Peratallada and personally accompanies every commission, from the first conversation to handover.

Her work starts from a simple idea: before intervening in a space you have to understand it. Understand the people who will live in it, their context, the light, time, and what they really need.

Over the course of her career she has developed more than 400 projects and her work has been published in more than 30 countries. She also speaks about design in professional and academic settings.

Her work has been recognised with the BIG SEE Interior Design (Slovenia, 2026) and BIG SEE Architecture Award (Slovenia, 2024), the German Design Awards (Germany, 2020), the Luxury Lifestyle Awards and the Lux Life (England, 2017 and 2018) and the Idea Top Awards (China, 2012 and 2013). She has also been a finalist at the Society of British Interior Design SBID Awards, the Porcelanosa Interiors Awards, the New York International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) and the FAD Awards of Barcelona.

Frequently asked questions about interior design in Girona

How much does it cost to hire an interior designer in Girona?

We do not work with a single rate, because no two commissions are alike. Fees are calculated from the size of the space, the level of detail each house calls for and the support during the works. After a first conversation we prepare a closed, tailored proposal.

What kind of projects does Susanna Cots Interior Design take on?

We mainly develop turnkey residential interior design projects, as well as hotel, retail and healthcare projects. In each commission we define how far our involvement goes, from design to final handover.

How long does an interior design project take?

The schedule breaks down into three stages: the design, the definition of materials and the building works. The first two depend on how many spaces we are designing and on the decisions taken along the way; the third, on the construction process and on the timescales set in each area. Before starting we hand over a schedule with dates for each stage, and we review it with the client every month.

Do you work across the whole province of Girona?

Yes. We are interior designers with a studio in Peratallada and we work in the city of Girona, the Baix Empordà, l'Alt Empordà and the Costa Brava, but we also work elsewhere in Spain and internationally.

Do you handle permits and the technical side of the works?

When the works call for it, our technical team also coordinates the documentation, the permits and the paperwork needed to carry them out. Site management is defined for each job according to the type of intervention and its technical needs.

Can you take on a project if I do not live in Girona?

Yes. Some of our clients live outside the Empordà or abroad and follow the works remotely, with visits by arrangement, site supervision on our side and regular visual updates.
